Highway Patrol troopers in Nash County are investigating a 6-car accident that sent 4 people to the hospital, 2 of them by way of helicopter.
Officials tell us the wreck happened on I-95 northbound around the 146 mile marker, just north of Rocky Mount on Sunday.
They say a small passenger car hit the rear end of a pickup truck and caused a chain reaction. Drivers told officials it was raining heavily during the time of the accident.
There were 4 people injured, all from the small passenger car. Troopers say 2 were airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville and the other 2 are in a Nash County hospital.
The conditions of the 4 hospitalized weren't immediately known by officials Sunday evening.
Officials say no drugs or alcohol were involved, however, they're still investigating.
