TRAFFIC ALERT: Highway 43 Reopens After Log Truck Accident

A heavily traveled road in one Eastern Carolina county was partially shut down because of a log truck accident this morning.

New Bern police closed the northbound lanes of Highway 43 headed toward Vanceboro at the Highway 55 split. The highway reopened shortly before 10:00 a.m.

A log truck flipped over, spilling logs on the highway. The truck went over an embankment and the driver had to kick out the truck's windshield to escape.

Authorities say there were no injuries.
