Crash Closed Part Of East 10th Street In Greenville

A traffic accident in front of the new Walmart in Greenville closed part of East 10th Street for a while Friday morning.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. and closed the eastbound lanes of the street.

Police say a Ford Focus was heading east on 10th Street when a Hertz rental truck pulled out in front of it at the new Walmart that is still under construction. The front of the Focus ended up smashed underneath the truck, with heavy damage on the passenger side.

There were two people in the car and fortunately the passenger was sitting in the back seat, according to an officer. Both people were responsive at the scene and taken to Vidant Medical Center.

The driver of the truck wasn't hurt.

Police say they are still investigating whether charges will be brought in the crash.
