Car Lands In Canal After Highway 264 Collision; Other Driver Charged

One driver has been charged after a crash late this morning landed one car in a canal and snarled traffic on U.S. 264, west of Washington.

The accident happened in front of Mount Olive College and affected eastbound traffic from Greenville.

One vehicle ended up in a canal along the highway, after troopers say another vehicle made a u-turn in front of it and the two collided. The Highway Patrol says there were no serious injuries even though both drivers were sent to local hospitals.

The Highway Patrol charged the driver of the vehicle making the u-turn, 44-year-old Robert Sherley of Greenville, with failure to see before turning.
