Susan Spaanbroek is this week’s “Teacher of the Week.”
She is a second grade teacher at Jamesville Elementary in Martin County.
Susan Spaanbroek received her undergraduate B.A. degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Juniata College and her M.A. degree in Reading Education from West Virginia University in 1987.
This is her 26th year in Education and she has served as a Reading Coach as well as having taught at various grade levels K-8 as a Reading Specialist or a Classroom Teacher.
Spaanbroek strongly believes that all children can learn and strives to provide her students successes in her classroom every day. She believes that children learn best through positive reinforcement and that all students and their families deserve to be treated with respect. In addition, Susan strives to provide a successful and positive school year for each of her students and their families. She uses creative materials, her own enthusiasm, and thorough planning to challenge students to become the best individuals that they can be. She feels blessed and honored to have the opportunity to work with children and their families
The parent who nominated Spaanbroek said she is the perfect person to get this award for all the hard work she does every day, for her patience and kindness to her students and her willingness to help children who face difficulties get the best education possible.
