Swansboro High Students Wear Sandy Hook ColorsTo Honor Victims

Students at Swansboro High School, who sympathize with students and families affected by the devastating shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary found a way to let the Connecticut community know they care. Thursday, hundreds of students walked to the bleachers on the football field wearing green and white- the school colors of Sandy Hook Elementary and read the names of those killed Friday.

"That's something, even at a young age, children will never forget. That is an extremely traumatic experience. Even if we can raise a little bit of money to have a scholarship fund for those kids it makes all of us feel good inside," said Swansboro High Junior
Nicholas Kohlman.

For many of these kids, the terrible news that struck the Newtown, Connecticut community hit close to home. Many of these kids have brothers and sisters at Swansboro Elementary School, and they find it hard to imagine the devastation those families are going through.

The students sold buttons and bracelets and raised nearly $1000 dollars to donate to a fund for the Sandy Hook School support fund.

The highschoolers will also send a framed picture from Thursday's event along with a letter of condolence to Newtown, Connecticut.
