State Senate Tackles Teaching Assistant Funding, Closing Session

North Carolina legislators have just a couple more questions to answer if they want to wrap up this year's primary work session that started in May.

The state House and Senate scheduled Friday morning floor meetings to take up a couple additional pieces of legislation.

The House must choose between three adjournment resolutions the Senate sent them Thursday night. The most likely candidate has the General Assembly returning to Raleigh in mid-November to work through Medicaid and coal ash legislation.

House Republicans also were expected to debate privately whether to accept a sales tax and economic development measure as part of a Senate offer that would simultaneously fix a budget provision about teacher assistants.

The two chambers also planned to finalize the Republicans' annual bill to pull back regulations.
