STORM & CRASH REPORTS: County By County

Reports of snow, sleet and freezing rain came pouring in as the winter blast moved across Eastern Carolina.

BEAUFORT COUNTY

4:55 p.m. - Northbound lanes of the Highway 17 bypass bridge, between Chocowinity and Washington, were closed due to a two vehicle accident.

Afternoon: Snow flurries reported in Washington. Light snow reported in Blounts Creek. Sleet, freezing rain reported across the county.


BERTIE COUNTY

Afternoon: Reports of snow. Moderate snow accumulation in Colerain, Aulander.


CRAVEN COUNTY

5:30 p.m. Multiple wrecks on Neuse River Bridge in New Bern causes closure of northbound and southbound lanes for several hours. Still closed late Friday night.


DUPLIN COUNTY

Sleet and light snow was reported in Beulaville.


EDGECOMBE COUNTY

At 4:20 p.m. Emergency Management reported an inch of mixed snow and sleet in Tarboro.

Afternoon: trace of snow, sleet on most areas of Rocky Mount.


GREENE COUNTY

3:30 p.m. - Icing on bridges along Highway 264 was reported near the Greene/Pitt/Wilson county lines with numerous accidents reported.

3:30 p.m. - Numerous bridges throughout Greene County were coated in ice. Officials reported numerous accidents on Highway 903 near the Pitt County line.


JONES COUNTY

Light sleet was reported in the Jones County town of Trenton.


LENOIR COUNTY

Sleet was reported in the Falling Creek area of Lenoir County. Light snow/sleet reported in Kinston.


MARTIN COUNTY

Light snow was reported in Williamston and Bear Grass Friday.


NASH COUNTY

At 11:45 a.m., a burst of snow was reported near Middlesex in Nash County, but there was no accumulation.

Reports of moderate sleet.


ONSLOW COUNTY

Light sleet was reported in Jacksonville.


PERQUIMANS COUNTY

5:35 p.m. - Primary roads were covered with snow/ice.


PITT COUNTY

At 1:00 p.m., snowflakes were reported in Pitt County. Light snow/sleet reported in Bethel, Farmville, Greenville and other communities.

At 3:00 p.m. there were three accidents on the Grimesland Bridge over the Tar River. The Highway Patrol closed the bridge while the wreck was cleared. It reopened about 6:40 p.m.

At 3:40 p.m. Greenville police reported multiple accidents due to icy road conditions. Motorists were warned be careful around bridges and overpasses. Police say they responded to more than ten traffic accidents in the city since noon.


WASHINGTON COUNTY

Snow flurries, sleet were reported in Plymouth.


WAYNE COUNTY

At 12:36 p.m., light freezing rain was reported on Highway 111 South in Goldsboro.


WILSON COUNTY

3:00 p.m.: Freezing rain, 30 degrees, and eight traffic accidents across the county were reported
