Shooting Victim Of Former Fort Bragg Soldier Slowly Improves

A Sikh priest who suffered severe head injuries in last summer's shooting rampage in Wisconsin remains largely unresponsive, but has begun showing signs of awareness his doctor call remarkable.

Punjab Singh is in a long-term facility. He was shot in the head in August, in an attack at a Milwaukee-area Sikh temple that left six people dead and three others injured.

His prognosis was grim but he has been improving. He can move his eyes to track movement, he tries to mouth words and he seems genuinely aware of his surroundings. His family credits prayer, love and constant companionship.

Still, Singh's best-case scenario remains limited. He'll most likely never walk, and communication likely will consist of deliberate eye blinks, simple gestures and perhaps whispered words.
