More Showers And Storms Thursday, But Severe Risk Lower

Thursday will likely be the final day of widespread showers and storms across eastern Carolina before a cold front finally moves through the area Thursday night. Locally heavy downpours and frequent lightning will be possible with some of the storms Thursday afternoon, but severe storms (tornadoes, large hail or damaging winds) are unlikely.

With the front easing off the coast early Friday, we'll hold on to a fair amount of cloud cover, but rain will be unlikely. By the weekend skies should finally return to mostly sunny with highs in the mid 70s.
