Republican U.S. Senate candidate Greg Brannon is getting a special platform at a North Carolina conference about how to defy, frustrate and nullify federal laws.
Brannon discusses how states can stop the federal health insurance overhaul law at a conference Saturday in Raleigh organized by a group called Nullify Now. Nullification advocates promote states' rights over federal laws.
Brannon is a Wake County obstetrician who is counting on tea party support to win the Republican primary next May and take on Democratic incumbent Kay Hagan next November. He was endorsed this week by Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, who also enjoyed heavy tea party backing.
The conference is co-sponsored by other groups that include one that calls for secession from the United States.
