Science Comes Alive For Carteret County Students

A group of local students will get the chance to gain hands-on science experience on the coast, beginning Monday.

Forty rising Carteret County seventh, eighth and ninth graders will participate in the 2014 Brad Sneeden Marine Science Academy.

The marine academy is in its seventh year and offers students with an entire week of science and fun.

Students will be in laboratories, area waters and learning environments across the county.

Some hands-on activities students will engage in daily include dissection of sea animals, trawling from a boat, exploring barrier islands, water testing and climbing the Cape Lookout Lighthouse.

The science-filled week will be from Monday through Friday.

For more information on the science academy, contact Tabbie Nance at 252-728-4583, ext. 1137.
