Pregnant Woman Stabbed In Halifax County Domestic Dispute

Deputies say a pregnant woman was stabbed and cut multiple times during a domestic dispute in Halifax County at a gas station.

Halifax County deputies say Anthony Gilchrest attacked the victim inside the Marathon station on Highway 158 at Zoo Cross Road Monday night. A store clerk was also injured while trying to stop the attack.

Police say Gilchrest left the scene, but was eventually arrested in nearby Virginia. He's charged with attempted first degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and assault on an unborn child.

Gilchrist was placed in jail under no bond. The stabbing victim and the store clerk were taken to the hospital for treatment.
