Transformer Causes Power Problem For A Few Washington Customers

Washington fire officials say it was an issue with a transformer that caused some power problems Tuesday night.

The transformer issue energized the ground which then caused problems for two houses along Market Street. Power had to be turned off to those two homes while the problem was fixed.

The city expected the power to be back on by 11:00 p.m.

PREVIOUS STORY:

With the frigid temperatures outside, some people in Washington are without power.

The power outage is in the Market Street area of Washington.

A Washington Utilities worker who answered the 24 hour hotline would not tell WITN where exactly the outage is or how many people are affected, only that crews have been dispatched.

The worker told WITN she was not permitted to give out that information and to call back in the morning.

We have requested that a supervisor return our call this evening so we can provide this information to those who want to know when power will be restored and what caused the outage.
