Tideland EMC Shutting Down Mattamuskeet Substation For Repairs

Tideland Electric says it will shut down a substation to replace equipment that caused an outage Wednesday morning.

The utility says it will shut down its Mattamuskeet substation at 2:00 p.m. for the repair.

Some 2,000 customers, including Mattamuskeet Elementary School and Mattamuskeet Early College High School, were affected by the outage around 10:17 a.m. The power company was able to return power about a half-hour later, but says the substation will have to be shut down to make permanent repairs.
