Police: Sunday Afternoon Accident Severely Injures Man

Greenville police say that a man was severely injured after colliding with a utility pole.

Officials say a 60-year-old man was traveling west in a car on Firetower Road around 1:09 Sunday afternoon. Police say he ended up crossing the center median and the east bound lane and would strike a utility pole in front of Whitebridge apartments. Police say the man taken to Vidant Medical Center with severe injuries. Traffic in the east bound lane was being detoured as of 2:30 p.m.

Greenville police are continuing to investigate.
