Greenville Police are investigating the shooting of a 4-year-old boy at one Eastern Carolina motel.
Police say responded to a shots fired call around 8:30 p.m. at the Motel 6 on Greenville Boulevard. There they say they found a 4-year-old boy had been shot in the arm by a .22 caliber rifle.
Police say that the boy's father was in the room with 4 children, and that a rifle was lying on the floor near the bed. Police say one of the children handled the rifle causing it to go off and strike the 4-year-old boy.
We're told the boy is in stable condition at Vidant Medical Center.
There have been no charges filed at this time. Police say the shooting is under investigation.
