The public face for Pitt County Schools is leaving her job in two weeks.
Heather Mayo, who has been the school's public information officer since 2005, is taking a job at North Carolina State University.
Mayo's last day will be February 5th and will be NC State's coordinator for development communications and donor relations.
Mayo started working for the school system in 2004 as an information and communications specialist after her graduation from East Carolina. She was promoted to PIO the following year.
The school system says it's working to appoint an interim PIO to replace Mayo.
