Pitt County Schools Getting Students Registered To Vote

Pitt County Schools are working to get students registered to vote before a change in state law takes place September first.

According to the Daily Reflector, schools conducted the voter registration effort among 16 and 17-year-old students. The new law limits registration to those who will turn 18 by the next general election.

Most 16 and 17-year-old's register to vote when they apply for driver's licenses. After Sept. first 16-year-old can no longer pre-register and 17-year-old's can only register and vote in a primary if they will be 18 before the next election.
