Pitt County Educator Gets State Honor

An educator here in Eastern Carolina has received a statewide honor.

Cornelia Cox from Creekside Elementary School has been named Assistant Principal of the Year by the North Carolina Association of Educators.

Cox has been assistant principal at the Pitt County school for four years. "I am extremely honored to have been chosen as NCAE's Assistant Principal of the Year," said Cox. "I am also humbled to be considered as an example of educational excellence for the North Carolina Association of Educators. As an administrator, this is an award to cherish."

The woman started her education career in 2002 as an elementary school teacher at Northwest Elementary School. She will be honored later this month in Raleigh.
