People Serve As Human Books For ECU Exhibit

A special set of books was made available at the Joyner Library on the campus of East Carolina University on Tuesday.

Students were invited to the "Human Library" to check out "Human Books."

30 people from across campus and the Greenville area were selected to serve as books. They each gave themselves titles and wrote short summaries about their life experiences.

Students then reviewed each "Human Book" and checked out those they found interesting. Well, not exactly. The students and their book subjects spent about 15 minutes in a one-on-one conversation.

Meesh Salter said, "I absolutely adored this experience. It's the engagement that really got me. I realize with a lot of these people, we wouldn't be having these conversations if it wasn't for the Human Library."

The goal of the event was to expose students to people they might otherwise not have met.
