Murdered Pastor Honored For Work With Substance Abuse

Many gathered in Greenville this afternoon with the goal to raise awareness about substance abuse and honor the late Pastor Jim Carr for his work for the cause.

The Pitt County Coalition on Substance Abuse put together the event which included speakers from abuse counseling centers and those currently fighting substance abuse.

There was also a memorial for Pastor Jim Carr. Carr was shot and killed during a home invasion in Greenville back in August. He was active in promoting substance abuse recovery and led a "Celebrate Recovery" group at his church to support those battling the addiction.

This is the 3rd annual event of its kind. The event is held every year in September which is National Substance Abuse Awareness Month.
