A Pamlico County family is celebrating a pretty incredible anniversary. Harold and Elsie Alexander have been husband and wife for 75 years!
At 93 and 94 years old, the Alexanders still hold hands and are still very much in love. Back in 1938, Harold picked Elsie up in her hometown of Ayden and brought her to the justice of the peace in Vanceboro to elope where they promised to love each other and care for each other.
Together they raised 3 kids in the small Pamlico County town of Stonewall where they passed on the importance of family, hard work and faith.
"You just learn that everything is not perfect, but you learn to forgive each other when you're a little upset. They've done that through the years. They've always been very close. Has it been perfect? Hey, I don't know, but they certainly have had a good marriage and they still care for each other. They care for each other a lot," said Elsie and Harold's daughter Ann Holton.
All three of Elsie and Harold's children celebrated their own 50th wedding anniversaries and have grown the Alexander family to 44 grand children, great grandchildren, and great-great grand children.
While their anniversary was Tuesday, the Alexander family and their friends are having a big party Saturday for Elsie and Harold.
