Grifton Police Chief Bryan Cauley tells WITN that a man wearing a mask walked into the Kangaroo convenience store in Grifton around 12:30am Sunday and showed the clerk a knife, demanding money.

We're told that the robber left on foot with a small amount of cash. Cauley described the suspect as a slender white man around 6 feet tall wearing a grey shirt, blue jeans and possibly white shoes along with a dark mask.

No one was injured in the robbery. Ayden Police and the Pitt County Sheriff's Office helped search for the suspect. It is believed that he had a car waiting for him in the direction that he fled on foot.

Police are working to obtain security footage from the store. If you have any information please call the Grifton Police at 524-4161.
