With the issue of gay marriage taking center stage at the Supreme Court, one local organization was showing support for legalization Tuesday night.

Dozens of people showed up for a candlelight vigil in downtown New Bern organized by the Parents Friends and Families of Lesbians and Gays, also known as PFLAG. A protestor across the street expressed his views as well, saying he was opposed to same sex marriage, because he views it as a sin. Arielle McPhail disagrees.

"There's nothing wrong with the fact that I'm married to a woman. It doesn't change my value or my rights. My rights should not change based on who I'm married to," said McPhail.

Both sides say they are anxiously anticipating any decision the supreme court could make. Those in favor, are hoping for three words: "free to marry."
