Schools in Onslow County will have a new way to communicate with parents starting next month.
Right now the school district calls and e-mails parents to alert them about emergencies or important messages. Starting December 4th, the school will send text messages too. Its all in an effort to quickly get the word out to parents about their kids.
"If I were in a meeting, with my child being in a school, and I can't necessarily get up and get out of the meeting, but you can at least read a text message without a lot of disturbances. I do think a lot of people will be interested in using it, " said Suzie Ulbrich
with Onlsow County Schools.
If you are a parent interested in getting the text messages you have to sign up. Just send a text. Write "yes" to 68453.
