Registered sex offenders in Onslow County got surprise visit from law enforcement officers. The sheriff's office checked in on 230 registered sex offenders to make sure they were following the law.
Sgt. Mark Scott said, "A majority of the individuals are living like they're supposed to under the guidelines the state told them they have to abide by. There was a small handful that weren't. Individuals that we do have warrants on, five in particular that we cant locate and there are warrants for their arrest."
The sting also revealed three people were living too close to schools, another was on social networking sites, and two had outstanding unrelated warrants.
