Nine Candidates Vie For Role As Beaufort County Sheriff

With a field of nine candidates, the race for the Beaufort County sheriff is definitely a packed field. There are four Republicans and five Democrats.

Voters will decide Tuesday who will go on to battle for the seat in November's general election.

Democratic candidates include Val Scales, Russell Davenport, Gary Blount and Todd Alligood.

Republic candidates include Donald Dixon, Harry Meredith, Rick Guthrie and Ernie Coleman.

Incumbent Sheriff Alan Jordan decided not to run again, so that spurred a lot of candidates to file.

Voters will also have a commissioner primary on the ballot as well.
