The Neuse Regional Water and Sewer Authority said a new four week disinfectant system could change up the smell or taste of tap water.
Officials said the new treatment started Monday, March 18th.
Officials said while there is no health risk to consumers, this different disinfectant will keep water systems clear and clean of potentially harmful bacteria for nearly a year
The new disinfectant added to the water system is a mix of both chlorine and ammonia, and maintains EPA standards, according to NRWASA.
Users may taste or smell a difference in their tap water during the four week treatment.
