Police now say there was no sexual assault last month at a popular downtown New Bern park.
New Bern police began an investigation on April 29th when an 18-year-old woman said she was sexually assaulted in a restroom at Union Point Park.
After the victim was re-interviewed on Wednesday, she recanted her original statements saying that it was a consensual encounter with someone she knew.
After discussions with the District Attorney's Office, police will not file any charges in the case.
