Navy SEAL Killed During Rescue Of American Doctor In Afghanistan

A relief group says the American doctor rescued by U.S. special forces in Afghanistan will probably return home in a few days.

Dr. Dilip Joseph of Colorado Springs, Colo., was rescued early Sunday in eastern Afghanistan after being held by the Taliban for several days.

A special forces member was killed during the rescue. The Navy SEAL's name has not been released.

In a statement Sunday evening, President Barack Obama said: “Yesterday, our special operators in Afghanistan rescued an American citizen in a mission that was characteristic of the extraordinary courage, skill and patriotism that our troops show every day.”
Two Taliban leaders were reportedly taken into custody.
