National Database Helps Nab Armed Robbery Suspect

Deputies say a national DNA database helped them solve the robbery of a restaurant that happened last year.

Dennis Jackson of Swansboro has been charged with the November 26th armed robbery at T&W Oyster Bar on Highway 58. Employees were robbed by two men at gunpoint who were wearing ski masks. The gunmen got away with over $2,000 in cash.

Deputies say DNA evidence was entered into a national DNA database and Jackson's name came up from Maryland where he is on parole for armed robbery. Records show that Jackson has convictions in both Maryland and Pennsylvania for robberies.

The 42-year-old Jackson was jailed on a $50,000 bond and has a first appearance Wednesday.
