We spoke to a heartbroken mother who is begging for help to find her son's killer three weeks after Kinston Police say he was shot and killed in front of his grandmother's home in the middle of the day.

20-year-old James Franklin was shot and killed outside his grandmother's home at 205 Capitola Avenue in Kinston November 5th. Kinston police say Franklin was in the passenger seat of his girlfriend's car when the shots were fired. Three weeks later, police say, no arrests have been made. Franklin's mother, Tonja Suggs, says the upcoming holidays have her missing her son all the more.

"It'll never be the same. Holidays, birthdays, it'll never be the same because my son's not here no more. He's gone, and I pray every night, that my son's killer is caught. I'm a mom and I'm still grieving over my son. I mean that's all I had was James Franklin. My son was a good son. It hurts because I can't find out who did this to my son and it frustrates me. I just want to know why this had to happen to my son!

Police say Franklin's girlfriend, 20-year-old Tashana Hall, and 21-year-old friend Dexter Bradshaw were also in the car and were shot. WITN is told both are home recovering.

A mother who lost her son yesterday in a triple shooting made an emotional plea for people to come forward with information on her son's killer.

Tonuja Suggs says her son, 20-year-old James Franklin, was in a car with his girlfriend and another man, when the three were shot on East Capitola Avenue around 1:25 p.m.

Dexter Bradshaw and Taishianna Hall survived the shooting. Suggs says Hall was driving the car, while her son was in the front passenger seat. She says Bradshaw, who is a friend of both, was in the backseat and was shot five times.

The shootings happened in front of the home of Franklin's grandmother.

Kinston police say they are continuing to search for those responsible. The SBI is now assisting Kinston with the investigation.

Suggs say her son has a three-year-old daughter who lives in Raleigh, while he and Hall lived in Greensboro. This morning she made a tearful plea for anyone with information on the shooting to please come forward.

One person was killed and two others wounded after shots rang out on a Kinston street this afternoon. Minutes later, a grandmother says her back window was shot out about ten blocks away.

The first call came in around 1:25 p.m. to the 200 block of East Capitola Avenue.

Police say 20-year-old James Franklin died in the shooting, while Dexter Bradshaw and Taishianna Hall were wounded.

Hall has since been released from the hospital.

Officer Woody Spencer says shots were fired into a vehicle, but he wouldn't say if all three victims were in that vehicle. The 21-year-old Bradshaw ended up at Vidant Medial Center in Greenville, while Hall was treated at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

Spencer says no one is in custody for the shootings and they are working to get those responsible off the streets.

Neighbors say the people shot were in the vehicle parked in front of the house. They say it appears the driver was killed.

Meanwhile, there was a second shooting a short time later.

It happened in front of St. James AME Church, at Shine and East Streets.

Alma Hawkins says bullets just missed her as she sat in her SUV, talking to her daughter who was outside on the sidewalk with the woman's granddaughter. Her vehicle's back window was shot out.

Hawkins says she ducked, while her daughter and granddaughter took cover under her SUV. No one was hurt by the gunfire.

Police have not yet said if they believe the two shootings are connected.
