NEW INFO: Injured Morehead City Firefighters Released From The Hospital

Two Morehead City firefighters injured fighting a fire Wednesday night at 3602 Meadow Drive have been released from the hospital.

The fire broke out in the Mandy Farms subdivision.

The two firefighters were injured and taken to Carteret General Hospital.

The two firefighters had just left a wildland fire that they had been working on for two hours.

Both firefighters have been released from the hospital and are at home recovering.

The fire extended into the living area of the home causing extensive damage.

Firefighters worked for over an hour to bring the fire under control.

Crews are currently on scene investigating the cause and origin of the fire.

According to witnesses the occupant of the home was out of town at the time of the fire.

Units responding were: Morehead City Fire/ EMS, Atlantic Beach Fire Department, Wildwood Fire Department, Beaufort Fire Dept, Carteret County Fire Marshal’s Office, Friendly Care, Carteret County Medical Transport (CCMT), and Newport Fire Department. Numerous other agencies assisted covering the Morehead City area.
