After an early wake-up call from Mother Nature, most locations will continue to stay dry through the early afternoon. Highs will warm into the upper 80s making for a humid and hot day across eastern Carolina. Any thunderstorm has the potential to produce frequent lightning strikes, but the biggest threat will be heavy rain. The tornado and hail threat remains very low with these storms.

The humid conditions will keep temperatures in the low 80s even after sunset (730pm). Tuesday will be relatively similar as Monday with an approaching cold front providing the instability in the atmosphere to spark more morning to afternoon storms. Once winds shift to the north, drier and cooler conditions will be ushered into the area.
