Martin County Stops Gassing Pets At Shelter, Gets $10,000 Grant

The Humane Society of the United States says Martin County has decided to no longer euthanize animals using the controversial method of gassing them.

Because of this decision, the organization has given the shelter a $10,000 grant to not only help them transition to another form of euthanasia, but to also build a much-needed place to house cats.

Martin County's shelter becomes the 10th shelter in the state to stop gassing dogs and cats since the beginning of 2013, according to the Humane Society.
