Man Shot By Simpson Chief Now Wanted

A man who is appealing his conviction for assaulting a local police chief is now wanted for not showing up in court.

Pitt County court officials say an order for arrest has been issued for William Osbun after he missed his court appearance on Wednesday.

Osbun was shot by Simpson Police Chief John Waters last October after police say he jumped on the hood of the chief's cruiser and came after the officer.

This summer he was found guilty of assault on a government official after a trial in district court.

A grand jury cleared the police chief of any wrongdoing in the shooting.
