Lights Are On At The DMV

A power outage that disrupted the services at the Raleigh headquarters of the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles has been resolved and operations will be back to normal for the new week.

DMV spokeswoman Marge Howell said Sunday that repairs were completed and operations like vehicle registration, title transfers, and driver license production should be back to normal Monday.

The power outage shut down operations at DMV headquarters for two days last week. Howell says permanent repairs were made to 1950s-era equipment protecting one of the main electrical cables supplying power to the building.

Howell said services such as routine license renewals and issuing license plates were unaffected during the headquarters shutdown.
