A Kinston man was shot numerous times during a home invasion Friday night.
Kinston police say James Williams told officers he heard a loud crash while inside his Old Snow Hill Road home around 9:25 p.m.
He says a black man in his mid 20s was armed with a handgun and told him to "give it up."
The man was shot in the lower stomach and thigh. He was able to drive himself to Lenoir Memorial Hospital, which is just a couple of blocks away. He was then transferred via helicopter to Vidant Medical Center.
The gunman is described as 5'10" tall, weighing about 180 pounds, and has dark skin and braided hair down his neck.
