Jacksonville police have made an arrest in a shooting that sent one person to the hospital.
Reginald Jones, 20, is facing a number of charges related to a shooting on Myrtlewood Circle Sunday night and chase that happened when officers tried to take him into custody.
The Maysville man is charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury; Assault by Pointing a Gun; Discharging a Firearm into Occupied Property; Fleeing to Elude Arrest with a Motor Vehicle; Littering; Possession of a Controlled Substance, Schedule VI (marijuana); Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Resist, Obstruct, Delay a Public Officer; Failure to Stop for Siren and Driving on Wrong Side.
When officers tried to pull over Jones on Western Boulevard, Jones refused to stop and led officers on a chase continuing onto Highway 17 and Piney Green Road. Jones finally stopped at Rocky Run Road and was arrested. Jacksonville officers also recovered a firearm that was thrown from the vehicle during the chase.
Jones is being held on $157,000 bond. The victim of the shooting was treated at Onslow Memorial Hospital and released. This case is still under investigation.
Police said they are investigating a Sunday night call of shots fired in a typically busy part of Jacksonville.
Lieutenant White with Jacksonville Police confirmed with WITN officers were called to Myrtlewood Circle at 8:14 p.m. Sunday.
That city street is positioned between Coastal Carolina Community College and the Jacksonville Mall, just off Country Club Drive.
Lt. White said the original call was for shots fired, but citing an ongoing investigation, she was not able to give any further information on the case.
No word on any reported injuries or arrests at this time.
