Jacksonville Airport Receives $2 Million For Improvements

A facelift is in the works for one Eastern Carolina airport.

The North Carolina Division of Aviation awarded $2 million to Albert J. Ellis Airport in Jacksonville. The money will be used for terminal redevelopment, including the construction of service terminals.

The State Aid to Airports Program is a basic support program. The N.C. Department of Transportation provides funds for planning, acquiring, constructing, or improving any publicly-owned airport in our state.

Based on a 2012 study, the Albert J. Ellis Airport has an approximate $192 million a year impact on North Carolina, and supports more than 340 jobs.
