The interim city manager of New Bern is set to take the job on a permanent basis.
The New Bern Board of Aldermen plans to announce that Mark Stephens will become the new city manager.
Stephens has been serving as interim city manager since December.
The official announcement will be made at next Tuesday's board meeting.
The 38-year-old began working as New Bern director of public works in 2011 overseeing 8 divisions, about 50 employees and managing a 10-million dollar annual budget.
Stevens' proposed employment agreement would pay him $140,000 a year.
