Hundreds of students from across Eastern Carolina will gather next week to compete in the 2014 Coastal Envirothon.
Five-member high school and middle school teams will compete in the event, which focuses on natural resources as well as an ecology field day.
The event is designed to encourage interest in the environment and our state’s natural resources.
The Coastal Envirothon will be held Tuesday, March 18, at Weyerhaeuser's Cool Springs Environmental Education Center in Craven County.
The event is a qualifier for the state Envirothon competition. Winners attend that event in April in Burlington.
