Dozens of people gathered Wednesday morning to remember local law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.
Pitt County Law Enforcement Memorial Day is every May 7th.
Close to one-hundred law enforcement officers, along with family and friends, gathered outside the courthouse at 10:00 a.m.
Family members and officers of departments who have lost members placed ten roses on a wreath. Each rose represented an officer from the Pitt County Sheriff's Office, Farmville police, Bethel police and Greenville police, all who have lost officers.
Also present was Chief Toussaint Summers and several officers from New Bern. Chief Summers said they were there to show their support for Pitt County lawmen as they supported them when Officer Alex Thalmann was killed last month.
The memorial service concluded with a 21 gun salute.
