Residents of eastern North Carolina are invited to an expo which will educate them about the risks and dangers of heart disease.

The East Carolina Heart Institute at Vidant Medical Center presents the Fifth Annual Heart Expo on Saturday.

Men, women and children attending the free event can learn their heart risk profiles by registering for free screenings, including blood pressure, cholesterol, body mass index and blood sugar.

Several local doctors will present heart health seminars that focus on a variety of topics from heart disease in children to the impact of sleep disorders on your heart. Guests can also learn how to "Cook with Heart" during a healthy cooking demonstration. This year's expo features a special kids area called "A Child at Heart" with heart-healthy activities.
