Herbalife To Create 500 Jobs In Winston-Salem

Nearly 500 new jobs are coming to a former Dell plant in Winston-Salem over the next three years.

Governor Bev Perdue announced Herbalife's plans to move into the plant Wednesday. The jobs will pay about $40,000 a year.
The plant will make dietary supplements and food products. The Winston-Salem location won out over a location in Atlanta.

"The markets that we were looking at in the Atlanta area had unemployment around four percent and at the time I think it was around 14 percent in this area and one of the criteria we looked at was which community needs us more." said Herbalife CEO Richard Goudis.

The retro-fitted, 750-thousand square-foot facility will be the largest Herbalife owns.
