The heat will be tempered a bit on Friday as showers and storms continue across the area. A stalled front just to our west combined with some moisture from what was Tropical Storm Chantal will give eastern Carolina some heavy rainfall, prompting a Flood Watch to be posted throughout eastern Carolina until Friday evening. Afternoon highs will only reach the lower to middle 80s as the clouds and rain keep us cool. With a bit more sunshine we should hit the middle to upper 80s over the weekend as the showers taper off. Total amounts between Thursday afternoon and Saturday could range from 2 to 3 inches in many locations.
