Greenville Convenience Store Robbers Sentenced

A 20 year old from Edenton and a 19 year old from Belvidere in Perquimans County have been sentenced for the holdup at a Greenville convenience store last summer.

According to officials at the Pitt County Detention Center, Denzel Evans of Edenton was sentenced Thursday to 38-58 months behind bars for the July 2012 holdup of the Kangaroo on West Arlington Blvd. in Greenville. William White of Belvidere faces 44-65 months in prison, according to officials.

Police said the two men held up the store with their faces covered and one carrying a shotgun.

Previous Story

Two teens from Northeast North Carolina are in the Pitt County jail, accused in last week's hold-up of a Greenville convenience store.

Police last week released the video of the two robbers inside the Kangaroo Convenience Store on West Arlington Boulevard. Both of their faces were covered and one was armed with a shotgun.

Early this morning an officer on patrol spotted a suspicious rental car on Hemby Lane. Inside the car they found a 20 gauge pistol-grip pump shotgun. Police say after an investigation they charged William White of Belvidire in Perquimans County and Denzel Evan of Edenton with last Wednesday's Kangaroo robbery.

Police are now looking at whether the two committed any other crimes in the area.
