Some Greenville shoppers are on edge after a fatal hit and run in the parking lot of the East 10th Street Walmart coupled with recent cases of armed and attempted armed robberies in store parking lots.
Several shoppers we spoke to Friday say they come to the the East 10th Street Walmart because they feel it's a safer option than the one across town where there was a a shooting in the parking lot in June which wounded three men.
"It was a major shock. I used to go to the Walmart over there. Actually it's closer to me, but I started coming to this one because its more safe, and I have children. So with that I would think that this neighborhood was safe. It's just a travesty what happened," said Walmart shopper Crystal Partis.
This week there were two other crimes involving shoppers. Tuesday in the Greenville Target parking lot, a woman was robbed of her cell phone and cash. Wednesday night outside the Pier 1, there was an attempted robbery when someone pulled a knife on a shopper.
Greenville police told us this week they are stepping up patrols around shopping centers until after the holidays.
