Troubling details have emerged about the arrest of two Greenville men, accused of starving dogs to death.

22-year-old Kendrick Anderson and 24-year-old Monta Whitehurst are charged with two counts each of killing an animal by starvation.

Arrest warrants say the four dogs involved were pit bulls, all about a year old.

One dog died after it was put in a plastic trash can with no lid, and left in the woods to starve, according to one warrant. Another says a female pit bull was tied up in a barn with no food or water. The warrant says that dog, along with another, had to be put down after authorities found them.

A fourth pit bull survived.

Court documents say both Anderson and Whitehurst owned the animals and lists the date of offense as January 9th.

Anderson is also facing bond modification violations, according to deputies.

Anderson's bond was set at $210,000 while Whitehurst is being held under a $50,000 bond.
